When I was 13, one of the nation's all-time best speech and debate coaches started one of the country's first feeder programs at my Junior High School. By the time I finished High School, I was a two-time state champion (Florida) and finished in the top ten in the nation my junior and senior years, as well as several other awards. We learned many types of speeches as well as how to prepare and defend arguments. I next used these skills competitively when I went to Law School. I was a finalist in my school's Moot Court competition and a regional finalist in a Mock Trial competition. I practiced law for ten years representing many clients at trial including Publix SuperMarkets, Carnival Cruise Lines, the State of Florida, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Aetna Insurance Co., Fisher Island, Turnberry Island, and many others. Thus, I have unique experience among those who teach Public Speaking and Presentation Skills. There is a huge difference between delivering an "after dinner" type of speech where the points you make typically do not receive a lot of scrutiny and a sales presentation or other type of speech where there are others who would be more than happy to dispute your content. Most trainers focus on style and ignore the development of content. I can teach both at a high level. At the end of 1995, I quit the practice of law and spent the next two years leaning the training business. There are many reasons I changed careers, but they all center on my personal health and happiness. I have always been a person of high ethics, so there were no negative issues. Since that time, I have passed background checks to train for Intel, City National Bank, the Department of the Navy and for Southern California Edison near a nuclear facility. I began training computer software in 1998 working full time for ExecuTrain of Florida. After two years, I moved to San Diego and became an independent contractor teaching for several training companies in Southern California. I have consistently been the highest or among the highest evaluated trainer for each company. I love what I do. There is no better feeling than seeing the light bulb go off in somebody's head as they realize I have just saved them a lot of time or made them more productive. Give me a chance.
